Undip Collaborates with PT. Djarum Concerning Environmental Preservation

Diponegoro University (Undip) has agreed to collaborate with PT. Djarum on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at Djarum Oasis Kretek Factory Kudus. This collaboration includes cooperation in the fields of Education, Research and Community Service.

The collaboration was marked by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Undip, represented by Undip Rector Prof. Dr. Yos Johan Utama, S.H., M.Hum., with General Manager Corporate Development, FX Supanji, representing PT. Djarum.

The event was followed by the signing of the Cooperation Agreement (PKS) for the Environmentally Aware Campus Program (Darling) between Undip, represented by Undip Rector Prof. Dr. Yos Johan Utama, S.H., M.Hum., with PT. General Manager Community Development, Bambang Haryanto, representing PT. Djarum.

In his speech, Undip Rector, Prof. Dr. Yos Johan Utama, S.H., M.Hum., welcomed the collaboration that has been established with PT. Djarum. “I welcome this collaboration because PT. Djarum, through the Djarum Foundation, has been proven to help the community in all fields,” said Prof. Yos.

Environmental preservation program from PT. Djarum, namely Kampus Darling, is in line with Undip’s commitment to being a green campus. Undip as a green campus supports the achievement of SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals), including SDGs Goal 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation), Goal 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy), Goal 11 Sustainable (Cities and Communities), Goal 13 (Climate Action), and Goal 15 (Life on Land).

In addition, Undip was named The 2nd Most Sustainable University in Indonesia by the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings 2023. This ranking is a quattrick victory. Undip was ranked 2nd as a green and environmentally friendly university for four consecutive years, starting in 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023.

“Hopefully, this collaboration can run smoothly and be implemented as well as possible,” said Prof. Yos.

Meanwhile, the General Manager of Community Development, Bambang Haryanto, said that environmental preservation activities require collaboration from all parties. “We must collaborate with everyone. Better changes for our environment can start from Kampus Darling activities,” explained Bambang.

According to Bambang, the simple activity of planting and maintaining a tree seedling during your study period on campus will be the beginning of change for yourself and the environment when looking after new tree seedlings. It will foster a greater sense of love for environmental care.

“We hope that today’s signing of the MoU will be a commitment to start taking steps towards a sustainable life, and hopefully, in the future, Undip students will be able to collaborate with other students in various environmental care movements, making even bigger changes for the preservation of the environment on this mother earth,” said Bambang.

Undip’s Kampus Darling Program with PT. Djarum will be implemented by planting 280 tree seedlings on the PSDKU Undip Rembang and PSDKU Undip Batang land.
