Undip Campus with a Safe and Healthy OHS Culture

Diponegoro University (Undip), in collaboration with the Central Java Province Manpower and Transmigration Service, held the 2024 National OHS Month Declaration for Central Java Province, where Undip was chosen to be the host. The event was held on Wednesday morning, January 24, 2024, in the Widya Puraya Building field, Undip Tembalang, Semarang. The launch of National OHS Month for Central Java Province in 2024 carried the theme “Campuses with a Culture of Occupational Safety and Health, Towards a Golden Indonesia 2045.” Central Java Provincial Government, represented by Komjen Pol (Purn) Drs. Nana Sudjana, A.S., M.M., who serves as Acting Governor of Central Java, was present at this event.

In order to optimize the Occupational Health and Safety (K3) culture to create a healthy work environment, the event began with Healthy Worker Gymnastics which was attended by all participants present. Guests who attended reached almost 700 people from ASN, OHS examiners, OHS experts, APINDO administrators, goods and services insurance administrators, labor union administrators, company management representatives, and the academic community within Undip.

Acting Governor of Central Java, Komjen Pol (Purn) Drs. Nana Sudjana, A.S., M.M. In his speech, he stated the aim of declaring the National OHS Month for Central Java Province in 2024, among others, to develop superior regulations in the field of OHS, implement good and consistent OHS norms and culture in the workplace by all parties, and increase work productivity. “The success of OHS is able to reduce work risks, increase the Human Development Index (HDI), achieve the SDGs, and maximize national competitiveness,” said the Acting Governor of Central Java.

Prof. Dr.rer.nat. Heru Susanto, S.T., M.M., M.T. as Vice Rector for Resources, representing the Undip Rector, said that after the formation of the UPT K3L Undip, waste management at Undip was well controlled and the environment became healthier. “OHS culture is necessary to create a safe and healthy environment, as well as to avoid and reduce the risk of accidents and illnesses at work. “All of us who are present here, from representatives of universities in Central Java together with the Central Java Provincial Government, are trying to create work safety in our respective work environments because work safety is everyone’s responsibility,” said Prof. Heru.

The declaration of National OHS Month for Central Java Province in 2024 began symbolically with the sounding of sirens by the Acting Governor of Central Java, Komjen Pol (Purn) Drs. Nana Sudjana, A.S., M.M.; Head of the Central Java Province Manpower and Transmigration Service, Ahmad Aziz, S.E., M.Si.; Undip Vice Rector for Resources, Prof. Dr.rer.nat. Heru Susanto, S.T., M.M., M.T.; Dean of the Faculty of Public Health Undip, Dr. Budiyono, S.KM., M.Kes., and representatives of universities.

The signing of the OHS Commitment at Diponegoro University by Prof. Dr.rer.nat. Heru Susanto, S.T., M.M., M.T. as Vice Rector for Resources, representing the Rector of Undip, and witnessed by the Acting Governor of Central Java. Undip also received two awards in the field of OHS, which were given directly by the Acting Governor of Central Java, namely Active Participation in 2024 OHS Month to Diponegoro University and OHS Cultural Campus to the Dean of the Faculty of Public Health, Diponegoro University.

At the end of the event, an OHS Demo was held which included Fire Management (10 Minutes) and First Aid Duration (10 Minutes) by PT. PLN Indonesia Power PLTGU Tambalorok Semarang. A demonstration of the fire extinguishing process using APAR and fire blankets, as well as first aid for victims who fell from portable ladders, was shown to participants in the 2024 National OHS Month Declaration event for Central Java Province as education about fire disasters and first aid.

Based on the importance of occupational safety and health to create a healthy and safe work environment, Diponegoro University (Undip) is opening a K3 Undergraduate Study Program in 2023 https://www.undip.ac.id/post/29170/keren-undip-buka-prodi -s1-occupational-safety-and-health.html.
