UNDIP Assistance for Flood Victims in Meteseh Semarang

Mother Earth is grieving again, on the afternoon of January 6, 2023, the Meteseh area in Semarang City experienced flooding. The affected location is not far from the Tembalang Campus, Diponegoro University. As part of Tri Dharma of Higher Education, namely Dharma for Community Service, Undip moved quickly in providing assistance to victims affected by the floods. Prof. Yos Johan Utama, as Rector, gave direct instructions to the Leaders of the Research and Community Service Institute (LPPM) to deploy the Assistance Team. Thanks to the quick coordination of Prof. Dr. Jamari, S.T., M.T. (Chairman of LPPM) and Prof. Dr. Rahayu, S.H., M.Hum. (Deputy Chairperson of LPPM), then in the evening at 20.00 WIB, the Surveillance Team (D-DART Team 1) as representatives from the Diponegoro Disaster Assistance Response Team (D-DART) had departed. Then, Team 2 D-DART departed from ICT LPPM Undip the next day on Saturday, January 7, 2023 at 17.00 WIB.

“The Surveillance Team is tasked with coordinating the initial phase of the disaster which will later provide mitigation reports for the needs of the next team. Generally, the Surveillance Team consists of health and education workers from various backgrounds including students and other volunteers. The Team 2 was dispatched as a continuation of the services provided by bringing the needs according to the results of the mitigation report from the Surveillance Team,” said dr. Achmad Zulfa Juniarto, M.Si.Med, MMR, Sp.And.(K), Ph.D, as General Chair of D-DART.

The Team Coordinators are Dr. Susilo Adi Widyanto, S.T., M.T. who is a lecturer in Mechanical Engineering from the Faculty of Engineering and dr. Satrio Adi Wicaksono, Sp.An KAO from the Faculty of Medicine. The team consisted of a lecturer from the Vocational School of Chemical Engineering, a Resident of the Anesthesia Section and 13 students from the Nursing Science Study Program of the Faculty of Medicine. The team brought logistical assistance which included underwear, mineral water, ready-to-drink milk, diapers for babies and parents, as well as medical assistance. The aid was handed over to the Logistics Center at the Mosque in the Dinar Indah Residence area and then the Team traced the disaster location including Rowosari, Grand Batik Residence, Fatmawati Training Center and its surroundings. Apart from the D-DART Team, LPPM Diponegoro University also deployed a P2KKN Team and a Volunteer Service Team. All teams are working in the field and preparing follow-up activities for post-disaster management. (AS and Public Relations Team)
