UNDIP Achieved the Ranking of “The 27th Most Sustainable University in the World” in 2023

Diponegoro University (Undip) achieved the title of The 2nd Most Sustainable University in Indonesia for its quattrick wins in 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023 according to the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings. At the international level, this year, Undip was ranked the 27th Most Sustainable University in the World out of 1,183 universities in 85 countries. This achievement has increased from 2022, when Undip was ranked 29th internationally.

The UI GreenMetric World University Rankings analysis was carried out based on 39 indicators on 6 criteria, namely Settings and Infrastructure, Energy and Climate Change, Waste, Water, Transportation, and Education and Research. In the UI Greenmetric Trees Rating assessment, Undip achieved a score of 4.5.

Undip achieved a total score of 8875 points, including Settings and Infrastructure 1250 points, Energy and Climate Change 1750 points, Waste 1500 points, Water 900 points, Transportation 1675 points, and Education and Research 1800 points.

As a green campus, Undip supports the achievement of SDGs (Sustainable Development) goals, including SDGs Goal 6, Clean Water and Sanitation; Goal 7, Affordable and Clean Energy; Goal 11, Sustainable Cities and Communities; Goal 13, Climate Action; and Goal 15, Life on Land.

The implementation of Undip’s support for natural and environmental issues is realized in actions to achieve SDGs goals involving leadership, staff, students and the entire Undip academic community. By creating a green and beautiful campus, it is hoped that Undip’s steps will have a positive impact on maintaining the ecosystem and preserving the surrounding flora.

Undip Rector, Prof. Dr. Yos Johan Utama, S.H., M.Hum. said that this achievement was an appreciation and encouragement for Undip to continue to maintain and improve to create a green, environmentally friendly and sustainable campus. The effort is proof that Undip is a sustainable campus both at the national and global levels.

Prof. Yos also expressed his thanks to the entire Undip academic community and extended family who have implemented the Sustainable and Green Campus program with environmentally friendly and sustainable activities. “Undip will continue to strive to expand green open areas in the form of creating parks and campus forests, energy efficiency, using environmentally friendly energy, water conservation, green transportation, as well as building campuses with green and smart building concepts,” he said.

“In the future, Undip hopes to contribute more to reducing the impact of climate change by preserving and conserving natural resources so that it has a good impact on our beloved Earth,” said Prof. Yos. (Titis-Public Relations)
